It’s a pleasure to present the antique finish version of the Arthur Pendragon bullion coin, the first antique finish coin in our new Camelot BU Edition series.
The legend of King Arthur begins in the early Middle Ages. At that time, England was not yet considered a country; it was known as the Kingdom of the Britons. This kingdom was constantly attacked by Saxon and Anglo invaders, as well as Germanic tribes from southern Scandinavia. According to tradition, King Arthur was responsible for preventing the constant invaders from penetrating south-western Britain, so he took it upon himself to be the defender and protector of the Britons against their enemies. Thanks to Arthur’s bravery and his ability to win battles, Britain remained British for some time.
The reverse of the coin shows Arthur Pendragon fighting his enemies. He holds the sword Excalibur in his hand. Two other warriors protect the king’s back, while another has already fallen.
The obverse of the coin features the twelve shields and names of the twelve houses of Camelot, that of Arthur Pendragon, King of Britain, and eleven other knights who will be the next releases in the series. King Arthur’s shield is plated in 24k gold.
